my dad also said it could be a vaccum leak but he says, he wants no part in dealing with that if there is one (all those hoses). Is this a syptom of a vaccum leak - idling high. Cause it wont idle lower then 3000 i have tried fiddling with the ar/mixture and idl screws but now luck, and also the choke needs to be out, if it isnt it wont idle at all

Ya its a carb base gasket leak. Not a vaccum line leak. Happened to me like 5 times on my honda, also check the intake mani gasket too.

Im not saying it couldnt be a vaccum line, but im just speaking with a little experiance. Spray with carb cleaner with the choke out, if it idles up, then its a vac leak.

it doesnt idle up, it just idles at 3000 perfectly, and if i try adn lower it by the idle screw it just dies, i can get it to idle at anything higher then 3000 fine. Tomorrow i will check all the hoses for cuts and see if there on correctly

ok i changed the fuel filter and it is now idleing at 1500 with the choke out, the car still dies if the choke is not pulled out.

I noticed that both my gas gauge and cooling temp gauges are not working, can someone tell me where i can find a connection for both these, i think i have the water temp one coming from the housing properly done on but it reads bellow 0, and i have no clue where any of the wiring for the gas one is located
