ok is it worth buyin a sa for parts for a fb

ok one of my relations has a sa a tree had fallin on the rear passanger side
"bad damage" so alot of stuff has mold on it
was quite dark but looks likes theres quite a few things i could use on the fb
im not sure if its a 12a etc still wouldnt mind a parts car for fun

could anyone list parts if it worth it i could maybe part it too for the forum members

they want $500 for the car the engine works i think ill find out this weekend and upload some pics

but there gonna through in some mag wheels there 5 spoke 15"
the spokes taper from center out to the rim like 3 1/2"-2" and have low profile tyres i think they would look good better than stock
has the sa have the same bolt pattern as a 83 fb?

Well $500 might be a little high if the car has bad body damge I would like to see pics before I say if thats too much money. Yes the SA have the same bolt pattern as all of the first gen rx7 except the GSL-SE.

But the interior is different like the dash and the door pannels. The most interior is iterchangable but if you have to pick and choose. I would just keep the the front mount oil cooler and radiator and wheels and part out the rest of the car unless you think you can repair the damage.

The wheels will work.

That's about it. There are so many differences in the FB cars VS the SA that they should really be considered a different model. Brakes are different, both in design and thread pitch on the lines. Struts are different, rear end is different, steering box is different (though probably interchangeable) need I go on?

cool deal, just met a new neighbor who drove by my house and asked if i need parts. i said sure ill take a look at what you got. its a SA in poor shape but gonna buy it, he only wants a hundred. thought its a good deal, his stock rims are in better shape than mine and i looked in side and has a bunch of FB parts, like tail lights (fits the FB, not the same as SA) SO, the SA has a front mount oil cooler? can i use that to replace my behive?

the car was for sale for a long time
plus they said they had brought a new engine from mazda about 1 yr after the tree fell and cruched the hatch
fenders not usalble either?
could i use the sa igniton setup on my car? i say this because i got igniter or somthin igniton problems and the car runs way to retarded and yes a timing light was used
isnt it better to have a sa rear iron for a turbo prepped 12a because it is alot stronger for bosst and wont crack?

blwfly,
I might be intesrested in some parts since I have two of them. If you got an FB, the good stuff like what's stated before is radiator, oil cooler, oil cooler lines, oil filter bracket, some other stuff is interchangeable like window regulators, door handles, etc. and some plastic parts. The FB as far as suspension and the other stuff is better. But you can probably get recover the money you spend on buying it. $500 for a tree fallen SA is pretty steep unless it was full of goodies and still running at this point.

how would 15" wheels run. rubbing isues? the treads are only like 1 1/2" so should fit no sweat

Yeah looks like a tree fell on it...lol.

The engine seems good if you have the money and want to deal with it I would by it . I might be interested in those door panels if there not fadded. If you can talk them under $500 I say go for it.

I would keep the 79' carb & intake on there( unless you have an aftermarket one you want to put on) but I guess everthing should swap over. You also have to use the short 79 radiator to use the front mount oil cooler. But that is all I can think of at the moment. Oh and i am not sure but you might also need to use the 79' starter.

That poor rex looks pretty sad

I still don't think it's worth $500. I bought an '84 for $500 with 90k miles, put a couple patch panels in and passed PA state insprection.

Go for it. Not worth $500.00. I bought a '84 SE running and driving for $500.00. Rusty but a great parts machine.
