Ok, what the ???

I have disconnected my entire rearend. I removed the four bolts holding the rearend to the axle, but they won't come apart. Any ideas?

Yeah, there's probably a good amount of connective rust there. I assume that you've also removed the four suspension arms and the Watts link?

The only things I haven't disconnected is the two e-brake lines and the regular brake line... I can't figure out how to get those off, either.

And yeah, it's a tad bit rusty.

Alright, the good news is, I got the driveshaft off the rearend.

Now, I just need to disconnect the two ebrake things and the frickin' brake line. Here's pics of what I'm talking about:

Here's my faithful helper. Of course, she doesn't know **** about cars, so she's not really helping all that much:

That's a pretty rusty rear end. Sad thing is, mine's worse

Might not seem like it but that's the tab that's holding the brake hose onto the mount. Pliers and yanking it upwards should do the trick. As for the ebrake cable, I'm not too sure. I have rear disks and you just unhook them from behind the caliper. Check the FSM maybe?

I sure as **** do! That's why I'm finally doing the swap. I've had the rearend since last summer. I have brand new shocks, struts, springs, bushings, rotors, and pads, all just dying to go on behind those wheels you sold me.

I cut that ****, but thanks for pointing out the clip. I assumed there was a clip there, but got mad and just cut the hose. LOL

Next up is the ebrake cables. I'm thinking about cutting those, too, because my new rearend has the cables in place.

Done. It's off! Now comes the sanding, polishing and painting. I'm also going to change all the fuel hoses while I'm down there.

Just a tip for next time, those tab ... they come off really easy if you take a flat head screw driver, but it to the top side of it (where it curls downward) and bang it with a hammer ... about 3 bangs later it should be off (mine was alot worse) as for the ebrake cable ... there should be 2 cotter pins that would come off and then you'd remove the pin that connects the cables. To remove the pin out, i would recommend using one of those big pliers (the ones that you adjust in like 5 different positions) and plier it out of there ... another good way to take it off twisting the pin to free it loose, then its a matter of twisting it as you pull it out.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. Here's how I did mine...

(btw, I have the entire disconnect-process documented on that cardomain site.)
