Ok, stupid question about tranny stuff...

How does the tranny mount to the car? I noticed that people talk about the tranny mount and or cross member as if its a different thing...How many pieces are there? All I have holding my tranny in is the one piece that bolts on either side of the tranny, and the tranny just sits in the middle. I dont know if thats right or not. Doesnt the tranny bolt down to anything? Also, when I put the shifter back in, is there anything special I should do? Thanks guys. Please excuse my ignorance on this, its just that other trannys Ive done are bolted to stuff, and this piece that I have holding my tranny now is the only piece that was holding the tranny in my parts car, so I have reason to believe its right.

Ok, im looking in the VB catalog (page 42) at the exploded view of the mount, and I have discovered that the crossmember is what I transfered over, I think. The part thats throwing me off, is that I only put two bolts in, one on each side of the crossmember. I didnt bolt anything from the crossmember to the tranny, and vise-versa. Basically, as far as I know, the tranny is just sitting on some kind of rubber pads or something...This isint right is it?

PS - Before anyone says anything, I didnt take the tranny out originally, and like I said earlier, this is how the one in my parts car was, nothing bolted to the tranny, it was just sitting on top of the crosssmember.

The tranny physically bolts to the cross-member...you need to have the right one for the holes to line up...

Ok, I thought there to be something wrong with mine seeing as the tranny wasnt bolted to the crossmember in any way. The crossmember is just bolted to the body and the trannys resting on it, and thats it.
