No fuel!

Should fuel flow from the line coming from the tank when you have your filter out?. Yesterday I changed my filter again and hardly any fuel came out of the line!. I think im gonna drop the tank tonight and see if theres a problem with the sock or pick up line.

I just changed my filter and got a face full of gas from the tank line . I had drained the tank and thought that that was all . but I also think it would depend on the amount of gas in the tank and the amount of pressure on the tank.

Peace

Maybe it's a bad hose or a clogged tank. I got tons of gas all over the driveway when switching mine.

I am changing my pump and regulator this weekend. Does anyone know of a larger fuel filter that has the same connections as the stock pump.

I would rather not spend $50 on a name brand fuel filter.

well the easy way to avoid gas coming out of the hose from the tank to the filter is to use a visegrip to pinch it off. Some gas will still come out, so keep a pail handy. If you don't pinch it off, you will get a syphining effect going on since the hose is somewhat level or below the bottom of the gas tank.

50 dollar filter? or do you mean pump? i'm using the see through kind from advance autoparts.

piston pounder- before dropping the tank, try blowing into the line and see if you can blow through into the tank. chances are if there are is something and you blow it through you will know because gas will then come streaming out. if its a tight clog then it will be difficult to blow through. and yes gas tastes like ****, just don't swallow and take it like a man.

Did my filter yesterday. either put a bolt in the hose or if your changing the hose pinch off up where it goes in the tank. I used a 3/8 inline wix filter even though thats not what is called for works fine

Yep, use a bolt to plug the line. My experience, based on installing my Carter fuel pump and changing my filter a million times, is that gas comes streaming out for a minute and then stops. Others have told me that gas should just flow out as long as the tank had gas, but that's not the way mine is and I guarantee there's nothing wrong with my fuel system because it works great. I'm not so sure you should be worrying here - unless you aren't getting fuel at the carb that is. Is that the case?

OK Im a dumb ***!. If any of you have read any of my old posts about me having some bad detanation noises at high rpm's, on my first rebuilt 12a half-bridge. Ive finally solved my problem!. When I put in the Holley blue pump, I mounted it way to high on the frame rail. The gas in the tank would not sifon out to the inlet on my pump causing me to have low pressure resulting in a lean mixture. For me being a mechanic this was a very stupid mistake!, I must have just been too damn excited to drive this new motor, or I could have been drunk?. I didnt realize this intill after I put the tank back in!. O-well for anyone having problems with your car, MAKE sure your not overlooking something simple!. Laterz.

yeh, you should probably pull the tank, have it relined, and run 4 filters.
