*how*to do it yourself can be found in the Heynes manual, which you can order at most part stores for like twenty bucks. The best twenty bucks you'll ever spend.

Also, most part stores can order you a replacement clutch kit which includes a clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing.

If you're looking for aftermarket clutches, try www.racingbeat.com . They're expensive but they've done their homework.

If you're looking for OEM replacement and your local part stores can't help, get a victoria british catalogue at www.victoriabritish.com

You can also use the search function (advanced search for just the 1st gen section works better) to find more info on clutches for specific applications.

This has been covered extensively before, just take some time with it, and add some more information like : are you planning to do it yourself or have a mechanic do it? What application are you using the clutch for? etc...

Have fun,
And get a Heynes manual dammit

Either the haynes manual or the online factory service manual would be a good place to start. It's not too hard of a job to do. I put the car up on jack stands and drop the tranny out the bottom, some people pull the motor, but I think that was is harder. It'll make the job much easier if you are decently strong. I hate using a jack on the tranny to put it in, it is MUCH easier to slide under the car, grab the tranny and bench press it into place.

I have never ever heard of anyone having to pull the motor to do the clutch on a 1st gen.

Took me an 2 hours total time, but I didn't do the flywheel resurface or pilot bearing. Search for clutch in this section. Lots of good advice available. Conventional wisdom (not having mazda service tool) says to leave pilot bearing alone if it's intact. Lube it and leave it. With the proper tool change it.

....or just make your own tool with a spare carriage bolt, a large socket, nut and some large washers.....works on Landcruisers too!
