ok serious problem got lucky oil line

today i went out to tune my car so i warmed it up drove about 8km opened the hood and started adjusting the timing and a/f mixture... anyways i looked down and to my surprise there was a huge amount of oil dripping from my oil line (metal line that runs below the Trailing spark plugs.... so i checked my oil.... it was below low.... i cant believe how lucky i am that my engine didnt run out of oil! so i bought some oil topped off and got home as soon as possible... Now im not sure if there can be a quick fix to this like some kind of tape or if ill just have to buy a whole new oil line but it looks like it travels from the underside of the oil filter to the front of the block has anyone had this problem how expensive is the part??? Thanks so much for your help looks like my cars outta commision for a while =(

IT kinda sounds like the o-rings are bad on the oil filter pedestal. It's like a couple of bucks for the o-rings and 10 min job.

Yeah, I had that same problem. Somehow my line actually split down the side. Anyway, I fixed it by just going to the front mounted air/oil cooler rather than the water/oil cooler that uses that line. You can however replace that pipe, and when you do it, its worth it to replace the O rings under the oil cooler to prevent future leaks in a VERY common spot.

PS - The part you need is this http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=14-720B-N231 which is located on this http://www.mazdatrix.com/b6.htm page.

EDIT: At that price you can see why I opted to just convert it to the front mount system. Also, its not your O rings - YET. That pipe is screwed onto fittings at both ends, but like I said, the O rings should be replaced while youve got it all apart.

126 dollars american wow that sucks... thanks for the help.... I changed the orings around a year ago so i doubt its them leaking i assume theres a crack in the line because it was dripping a drop of oil about every 2 seconds = ALOT of spilled oil.... I was trying to feel for a crack or split in the line but its hard to tell exactly where in the line its coming from because it runs down to a low area of the line and drips from there...

Yeah, it sucks. You can always try and get one used, but theyre pretty easy to split when you try and remove them. This is what mine looked like after I got it out. The split on the bottom only got worse as I tried to remove it. For reference, that split is on the bottom of the pipe at the engine connection on the front of the engine.
