OK to modify Powerpulse tips?
I dont konw why but i love the 3" DTM style tips.
I am going to be getting the RB Street Port system for my GSL-SE, and was wondering if its safe to cut off the provided tips, and weld (or fasten by some other means) on some new 2.5" inlet 3" outlet DTM tips.
How will this affect the sound, if at all? It seems to me bolted on tips over existing systems (on hondas and such) it adds a very very slight deeper tone.
Thanks!!
Geoff

i suppose you could, but at the risk of sounding as pompous and judgmental as some of those Gen II guys, why would you do that? don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to insult you or anything, it's hard to say these things over the computer because then someone might get the wrong impression, so i just want to make sure it's clear that this is not an attack or flame or whatever. it's not my personal taste, but it's also not my car and i respect that. it just seems a bit self-defeating to buy a $240+ muffler and take a torch to it.
anyway, i'm sure the sound will change somewhat ... i can't say if it will be for the better or worse, but i would imagine the sound would be louder and slightly higher pitched. the RB tips are mildly resonated, and removing them and replacing them with non-resonated DTM-style tips would cause that change.
about the actual welding (or other affixment of the DTM tips to the RB canister) i'm sure it can be done if you find the right welder, but considering the difference in size that exists, they might make for a slightly disportioned look when done.
hope this helps you out some.

I'm going to install it as is, as i'm pretty sure i'm going to love the look, fell, and sound of it as it comes!
Thanks guys.
