Ok here are more questions for the timing and carb gurus

Ok my car runs great aside from a few minor points

1. Choke wont stay out, Im thinking it is the dash unit that is malfunctioning but not sure (removed rats nest and all unnessary wires)

2. When I am taking off in first it bogs down unless I ride the clutch and rev to about 1200 rpm

3. there is a slight miss at idle that wont go away (possibly from no vac advance?)

4. While driving the exhaust smells extremely rich and has backfired twice (again, possible lack of timing advance?)

5. If I am revving fast and shift at 5k by the time I get to 4th gear it spits and sputters and acts like it is out of gas (possibility of fubared regulator?)

I do appoligise for the length

P.S.- If you know anything about suspension probs check my other thread

peace

1. make sure the water temp sensor in the water pump housing is plugged up. otherwise it will retract the choke.

2. check the other thread on this. yours might be the same.

3. that means its old like mine, lol.

4. aftermarket pump not regulated properly? i assume you have a new fuel filter on it.

5. see 4

It doesn't matter. The choke runs off it's own sensor in the thermostat housing. Maybe you got rid of it when you removed the rats nest?
