Oil wiring related question.

Manufacture date on the car is 9-78.

So the new wiring harness in the car has a couple minor differences. One being the alternator wiring (covered in another thread) and one being the oil pump. The oil pump has a black with green stripe wire coming out of it, but there is no black with green stripe on the main harness plug (long black plug under the clutch reservoir). What wire do or can I tap the positive oil pump wire into to make it work? I assume the other wire coming out of the pump is the ground? I can just stick a ring terminal to it and bolt it anywhere?

Just to bring you up to date on this, the cars original main harness and dash harness shorted and melted. I'm rewiring the whole car minus the engine with a donor car harness also from a 79.

As far as I've ever seen on a first gen, there's no electrical wiring to the oil pump...?

After you hook up the wires to the oil pump you can then finish the project by hooking up the wires to the muffler pump, the spark plug pumps, and then the radio pump.... after all pumps are hooked up make sure you install the latest Mazdaspeed flux capacitor inline to handle the surges created by all said pumps when they turn on....

No wires to the oil pump[, strictly mechanical.

IIRC you got a FB harness in your SA car? The FB has a oil pressure gauge, that is probably what you have.

I know it's mechanical, but there are wires going to it. Maybe it's just a sender or something then for the low level light. It has an inline condenser. It used to be completely torn just dangling there and I repaired it a few months back, but noticed no difference. It's definitely a 79 main harness because it had points resistor packs on it.

Can you provide us with a picture? I'm having an extremely hard time picturing what you are talking about, as far as I know the only electric OMPs are the 3rd gen and RX8 right?

No confusing it with oil LEVEL sender threaded into the oil PAN on the driver's side...?? These are fragile and tend to break...

Not the OMP. Driver side, Bottom of the oil pan directly under housing 1. 2 wires go to it. One black and one green with a condenser. It goes up to the engine harness and back to the main connector. This is where I'm having difficulty finding which wire to splice it to as there is not a similar colored wire on the other side of the plug. FSM suggests a yellow with red stripe wire...

Sorry if I sound confusing, but I thought there was a little sump pump deal in the oil pan to feed the e shaft and bearings.

That's the oil level sensor. It's not a pump; the oil pump is behind the front cover, driven by a chain off the eccentric shaft.

Haha I had trouble trying to figure out what hose wires went to also here are a couple pics. One of the wires connects to a yellow and red wire that is connected to a spade going into the engine block and the other I cant remember with out looking.

If you want I can get some more pictures for you tomorrow if you need, just let me know.
