Oil pump gears question

Ok i need a guru here, I'm piecing out a 12a/13b hybrid and I'm having a hard time finding oil pump parts. I just wondering if anyone have use later (86-91) oil pump gear, chain and ecentric shaft oil pump gear with the 79-85 oil pumps? Thanks

the oil pump chain, and gears are the same from 1968-1985 and then 1986-2003 (didn't check the Rx8).

if you did try it, i think it would have to be the whole matched set.

i've never seen the oil pump wear out/go bad. if ur building a 13b with 12a plates and 13b rotor housings from an SE, just retain the pump on the 12a front plate. can't use rotor housings from '86 and later due to them not having O ring groves.

You're not making a 'hybrid", you're making a 4 port 13B, like Mazda built from '74 to '78. The only difference between 12As and 13Bs was the rotor width.

Use the 12A pump. It works just fine and doesn't cavitate at high RPM like the large pumps do.
