oil pressure guage wire

I've been trying to connect my oil pressure guage, and the last connector that I still have that it runs through is the orangeish connector in the passenger side of the enigne bay for all the emissions equipment.

Does anybody have a pinout for this connector? Or can someone tell me which pin on the connector is for the oil pressure guage? Once again, the factory wiring diagrams are largely incomplete in this area.

This is for an 85 car BTW.

Factory oil press? Its on the drivers side below the filter. Theres a big bulb thingie which is the sender. The wire is a single wire with a rectangular connector (opaque/whitish plastic). It clips on from the side. Youll see a cutout in the plastic connector.

sorry... I probably wasnt specific enough, my bad.

That wire goes with the rest of the emissions harness over through a hole on the passenger side of the fire wall but first it connects to the large orange/yellow connector with like 32 (?) pins on it.

Because of my FC wiring, I prematurely tossed out this harness, and I dont know what pin the wire from the oil pressure sending wire connects to on the 32 pin terminal.

So does anybody know the correct pin or could anybody go out and check for me? Once again its for the 84/85 cars, as the connectors are probably different on the older ones.

IIRC it doesn't go to that big connector (X-07), it goes to the smaller yellow connector (X-08 else X-10 if 85 SE) which comes from the front of the car (and eventually finds it's way to the driver's side grommet hole)..... the color of the wire is BrY. It should be easy to find.

well the names of the connectors do help.

Only on the SE does the wire go through the other connector you talked about.

On the 12a cars however it does go through X-07. So specifically I need a pinout for this connector.

If anybody could tell me what wire it is, you just need to check the wire color at the pressure sensor, then check what terminal it plugs into at X-07.

Thanks for any help you guys could provide.

Now that I've had a chance to look at the diagram again, I promise it goes through X-08..... look on page C of the Wiring diagram. X-07, and X-08 are the two connectors that go to the engine harness. The oil pressure sender wire is one of 6 or 7 wires, the BrY one. I remember cause I'm in the process of eliminating all unnessisary wires and connectors from my car in preparation for the haltech I got. The BrY wire comes from the driver side grommet, goes down the driver's side across the front frame rail, and back toward the back of the engine bay to X-08, which is right next to X-07..... I remeber because I separated it from the rest of the front harness up to the brake master, so that on my 13BT it goes directly onto the block....

we might be having some confusion here.... X-07 is on the passenger side of the engine bay on the 12a cars, and when I went to get my transmission harness the guy gave me one for a GSL-SE, and it had an extra connector on it that contained sever plugs such as the oil level sensor and oil pressure sending unit.

On my 12a emission harness, it contained those connectors on that side rather than on the transmission harness like the SE's do.

Fatboy7 can you confirm this? Or am I I think you have to be refering to the SE version as the sensors are located differently on the SE cars.

This is driving me crazy... fatboy if you find anything else please let me know, I have to get this figured out before I crank my engine over.

Bingo...... the SE harness sends this wire through the transmission harness (X-10) of to the drivers side of the car directly, the 12A cars connect this off of the passenger side of the car. X-08 is off the same group of connectors as the washer fluid motor and sensor, the cruise control solenoid and such. Basically there are two connectors to the 12A engine harness, X-07 the big one, and X-08 the smaller one. X-07 leads to the passenger side firewall grommet, the X-08 goes all around the front of the engine bay and eventually goes through the drivers side grommet. Just remember this, the ecu controlled solonoids and sensors go throught X-07, the dash sensors go through X-08.

A quick disection of X-07's wires shows that only two wires on it are not 12A ecu related, and they are BW (from the alternator and connect to X--07 on the very end of the connector) everything else is garbage to you cause you're installing a different ecu with different harness.

X-08 has an assorment of stuff on it, WB from the alt, BG from the sub-zero motor, BrY from the oil pressure sender, YW from the water-temp (gauge) sender, and YR from the oil level sensor.

BTW, if you don't connect X-08 nothing "bad" will happen, just some of your gauges/dummy lights won't work(or might light up).....
