oil pressure gauge or other

Problem just stated today. At idle oil pressure gauge is normal around 30-35. When driving it goes all the way to the top and then will drop some down. Down to normal again at idle. Oil level is fine.

Is there a problem with the stock gauge or should I be looking at something else?

sounds like a problem with the gauge. if your oil pressure was that high, you would be blowing something out. a seal or a gasket at least.

I think so. Was just out in it and it was normal for awhile. 30-35 at idle and up to about 65 at 3k. Then it pegged again. Then back to normal.

Anyone seen this and knows how to fix or what to look for first?

Good chance its the sensor. I dropped mine once, and after re-installing, it had the same symptoms you are describing.

Id put my money on the sending unit as well. The stock gauges arent very accurate as is, but Ive seen a lot of senders die in my experiance. I would go with the sending unit. Grab another from the junk yard and try that one, otherwise its a good $60 for a new one. Good luck
