TX Oil Metering Pump Lines

I'm an original owner of an 85 GSL (12a) that I've kept basically stock. While I was removing the intake manifold today to fix a coolant leak, I accidentally broke my OMP hoses. I know I can delete the OMP and move to pre-mixing but if at all possible, I'd like to keep the OMP to keep my car basically stock. While I get this sorted out, if I do not connect the OMP rod to the carburetor (and of course, pre-mix) can I safely run my engine and not spew oil all over? Thanks

You should be on doing that. Premixing will be fine with the OMP disconnected.

Some oil will dribble out. Find a way to plug the line or patch the connection. Oil will degrade regular rubber vacuum tube but may work for a short term solution.

Just disconnect the metal OMP linkage rod on one end and premix. You will be fine

Like j_tso said, some oil will still come out even with the linkage disconnected. The OMP increases oil output in two ways, but the key is that the oil is dosed as intermittent pulses. The engine rpm determines the frequency of the pulses and the lever position determines the amount of oil per pulse. You'll either want to rig up a line to keep it going into the carb while you source a new line, or remove the pump entirely and install a block-off plate. Leaving an open omp line will leak oil no matter what you do.

Edit: Also the omp is a dosing (metering) pump, so you can't really plug it per say. They can overcome pressure greater than 30psi in my experience, so unless you clamp a cap on it really well it'll probably still leak (or it might start leaking at the pump instead).

I also have stainless steel omp lines. I made from ss tubing the same size inside diameter as stock plastic lines. With rubber nipples or brass fittings and metering pump with matching brass fittings. Have pics if interested.

FYI Mazdatrix has some options for omp lines: https://mazdatrix.com/vehicle-year/1...=oil-injection
