Oil Leak Woes

Well, I just fixed my ignition issues (New cap and rotor as well as new wires and lots of dielectric grease) so now I'm pretty good at running mid-to-high RPM again. However, I took a full stock of all the oil-leaks I have and I'm running quite a few odd ones and I need a little help for how to fix them.

My OMP is leaking from the front and back. I pulled it and cleaned it up so I could see if it was leaking, and I read on another thread that this requires an overhaul. The only problem is the only place I can think of would be the dealership, and they just want to sell me a new one (kinda duh on my part) for 260 bucks. Anyone know of anyplace I could order from or go to in Northern Cali to get a rebuild kit for an OMP?

I also have the dowel o-ring and oil pan leak... I'm going to pull the engine later and get the seal kit from Victoria British... will that be enough to fix it without having to do a full rebuild? Unfortunately I can't afford the full rebuild kit, I'm fixing my baby on around $100 a month.

Trying to find other options to go with as I fix the engine, before trying to get a 84-85 cluster into my 83 dash, and fixing up the interior with new fabric and stuff for the doors and whatnot.

I have a spare omp that I am rebuilding at the molment, I will clean it up in the next couple of days. If you are willing to wait till this saturday, I can ship it to you. I rebuilt mine after I had already bought one for like 25 bucks i think on ebay. I will sell it to you for the same plus shipping (however much that cost, 2 or 3 bucks I would think?) Oh and it is for the 12a not 13b, don't know if there is a difference in years though it came off a 85. PM me.

The 12A and 13b OMPs are different and incompatable. The 13B units had four oil lines from the OMP while all 12As had only two lines. The 12A unit was common to all 12A-powered RX7s.

But the dowel pin leaks described can only be fixed by tearing the engine down, although the engine will run just fine if you don't mind the mess.

The seals themselves are cheap, but once apert all other seals will need to be replaced. Count on a minimum of $1000 to rebuild, and that's only if you don't have to replace anything but the seals--- rarely is this the case.

Best bet if you're broke is to purchase a used 12A that can be SEEN RUNNING PRIOR TO PURCHASE. Confirm all is well and no leaks, then buy it for $600 and install it yourself over the weekend. Rent a cherry picker engine hoist (not expensive) if you have to.
