Oil leak / transmission sealer
Was just perusing the FAQ links and on Felix's site he suggests:
"Adding transmission sealer to the oil can sometimes stem the flow, but the correct fix is engine overhaul." refering to the dowel-pin oil leak, I believe.
My questions are:
1. what type/amount would you add and how much?
2. Are tranny sealers better than engine oil stop leak products?
3. What would they do to the characteristics of your oil.
4. Any ideas on why he would suggest tranny sealer rather than oil sealer products?
Have tried oil stop leak products before and they've "slowed the flow." Was just wondering wut the deal wuz with tranny sealer in the crank-case.

I was wondering that myself. I tried tranny seal initially because of Felix's recommendation, but neither it nor multiple engine oil leak sealers did the trick.
Does Felix have a contact email on his site?

I've seen some other posts that state that tranny seal swells the seals and makes them soft, leading to more problems, but there seemed to be some debate amoung the "posters"?
Not sure if oil stop-leak products work in the same way but I assume the idea behind them would be the same. I've used them before with some success for the dowel-pin leak, but had never heard anything about tranny sealer in the oil crank case until reading Felix's suggestion. He definitely knows his rotaries which is why I was curious as to why he would suggest tranny sealer instead of oil sealer? Don't know if he has a contact email. Will do some searching and post if I find one.
Kentetsu,
Funny u mention Lucas, cuz I just picked up their oil stabilizer brochure but wasn't sure how it would work in a rotary. Wuz reading a link to a site where an "independant" guy tests it, but just skimmed the site as I didn't have time to read it entirely. Had no idea it would help with oil leaks....

I sent an email to Felix, paying attention to his draconian (http://members.ij.net/mrmazda/email.html) email rules, but haven't gotten a response in the 2 or 3 weeks since I sent it.
Edit: Just re-read the rules, and I'm guessing I committed the unholy blasphemy of sending a HTML email. Curses!
