oil leak

i have had my 83 gsl for about 7 months and ive attempted to learn as much as i could from you guys and other sources but, somethings are not explained unless you ask, so...

what is the name of the pc that the distributor goes in?

does it often leak between that pc and the front plate?

how long should it take someone who is knowledgeable about cars (just not rotaries) to change *that* gasket and the oil pan gasket?

Front cover

No, not a common leak area AFAIK

Be sure to read this first
http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

That gasket, 2-3 hours. Oil pan, about the same.

Where exactly is it leaking from? Are you sure its the cover gasket? The OMP can leak, also the front main seal can leak also.

Yes, keeping the clutch in will keep pressure on the "stack"

If it's near the distributor, I'm willing to bet it's the infamous dowel pin leak...

That's where I thought my leak was also, due to the sale puddle on the 12a cast. But low and behold! It's just the OMP line runs just behind air pump. Mine was ozing with the car not even running!

Really?! Oh, man, I hope that's the case with Furious Rex, then! I never thought to check in all the dirty corners of the OMP lines.....damn, I hope that's all it is...thanks for tossing that out there...really!
