Oil Cooler Hose

Okay so this is going to seem really stupid, but bear with me. So the oil cooler hose on my 1982 fb recently sprung a leak. I ordered a new one but it won't be here for another month. Well something's come up, and it would really help if I could run it within a couple weeks. Basically, is it possible for me to do some jeryrigged bs to it. Something like tape or jb weld. It would only need to run for about an hour, and by no means would it be a permanent job. I know, it sounds stupid, but I thought id ask just in case there's a chance.

Driving it hard or just from one garage to another? Where is the leak? On the hose or the fitting? Is it dripping or squirting? You could put rubber plumbers tape over it, or a split piece of hose with clamps. But only you can answer this. I wouldn't want to risk loosing all the oil on the highway - did that 20 years ago; wasn't fun or cheap.

It wouldn't be a hard drive. Just down the road to a parking lot and back. The leak is on the hose itself. It's a pretty bad leak. More of a squirt than a drip. Thanks for the help. I could probably just try it and test it out. If it starts to leak then I could stop.

If it's the short hose (front cover) that is bad you can just loop the long hose to the front cover. This will work for a short trip.

Also why is a new hose a month away?

OEM replacement should be available from any local Mazda dealership, usually I get parts in a few days.

Unless COVID is causing delays, not sure about that.

Oil system is one thing I wouldn't take shortcuts on, and pressurized oil is one thing you have a hard time holding back.

I wouldn't. I put too much time and effort and $$$ into making it drive and run well...

1011-14-720 is available but no stock in the USA, it would be 6-8 weeks normally

it is, Mazda shut down the factory and part of the reason is that since the boats are off kilter, the parking lot is full and they have no room to put more cars!

call them or Mazdatrix? Both have been super helpful for me.

Or gerry rig it with a split hose over the leak, and a bunch of hose clamps with Permatex Indian Head Gasket Shellac Compound ? It's been around since 1915.
