Oil Cooler ???fb Or Fc?
I've got an FB. I'm getting rid of the liquid cooled oil cooler and going with a air cooled oil cooler. My question is, can I use an oil cooler from a FC or does it have to come from an FB? What is the difference in those two coolers? Lines? Thermostat? What????

It doesnt really matter if you use a 79-82 one, a 84-85 one, or an FC one.
The SE one would be the easiest to mount. I have an FC one, and still havent seen very good pics on how exactly people mounted it. Well I have, just not anybody that did it and Kept the A/C.
When I am ready to mount mine, hope to god i find some pics. I tried fitting it in the otherday, and since my car is an 85 it has mounting spots for an SE cooler, but all the A/C stuff is in the way. I'm not going to remove the A/C so how this will be mounted correctly is still a headache to me....

I give you permission to use either
Basically, the FC oil cooler has the inlet and outlet in different spots than the SA oil cooler. The lines are also different - FC lines are longer and have banjo fittings on either end, a total of four banjo fittings mated to four banjo bolts.
The SA oil cooler has shorter lines and mounts under the radiator, where as the FC oil cooler mounts in front of the lower half of the radiator.
That's as much as I can tell you know; I'm being distracted.

Hell you could use a FD one if you want. The 79-82 is the easiest IMO, just get the shorter radiator from those years as well and its all a direct bolt in. Oh you'll need the hard water line (goes from rad to heater box) from a 79-82 car as well. Or you could hack saw the "T" off your current hard line. Also the "T" water fitting on the bottom of then engine will either have to be cut off or plugged as well.

Cooler options
The 84-85 models should have the mounts for the SE cooler. The A/C shouldn't be in the way though it may be very close--at least it is on mine.
The FC should fit but I would mount on the frame cross bar ahead of the radiator. Then get some custom hoses made, they'll need to be a few inches longer with the banjo fittings.

If anybody could snap some pics of an FC oil cooler in an 84 or 85, WITH A/C that would be great.
Also, the FC oil cooler has 3 Banjo bolts NOT 4. The fitting that goes into the frontcover is not a banjo bolt but the rest are.

still does any one have pics of an FC cooler in and 84 or 85 FB, with A/C?
Pics of how exactly they mounted it without bumping into the AC stuff is what I'm looking for.

Anyone have any tricks to getting the plug out that holds the thermostat in on the FC cooler. I can't get the damn thing off. I need to get it off so I can plug the hole to clean the inside of the cooler.
