Oil Cooler ??????
yep sure will, you just gotta make your own lines. If you do their chaper than the stock ones anyway, and they look way better. Just get some -10 braided stainless steel hose and some -10AN fittings and your good to go.
oil cooler generations
Can somebody give a quick summary of the oil cooler generations and differences?
I vaguely recall the early models (SA) were the same as the SE design, but I can't find that now. Were they interchangeable?
...and the '86+ gen 2 coolers look similar, but another thread I found said there was something that required modifications to put in an GSL-SE. Are they interchangeable, or how can they be changed to fit?
My 84 GSL-SE fell off the jack stands without the wheels on (I am still kicking myself - totally my fault), and one of the jack stands which slid on its side sliced through the valance, rock shield, dented the cross-frame/support tube and nicked/crushed part the oil cooler. It might be OK, but I want to know just in case I have to replace it.
Thanks,
Brian T. Carter

As far as front mount oil coolers go the RX-7's go there are three versions:
1) early FB's (and SA's I think)
2) the 84/85 gsl-se
3) series 4/5 oil coolers
They are all different in mounting and connections, but I think they all have the same cooling and thermostat settings. I believe all FB coolers use the same fittings for connection but the nozzles are located at different angles between 1 and 2 above. The FC coolers use banjo bolts which are better but will require custom work to install on a FB.
I'm pretty sure all 84/85 chassis have the mounts for the gsl-se oil cooler. So if you have an 84/85 that is obviously the best way to go.
Search around more info is out there on this subject.
Good luck,
Scott

I sort of decided to go with air oil cooler. It's like the one at the top of the pic. I started test fitting it tonight.
