Oil Additive Question... Not about MMO

Ok, I have a leaky something somewhere, thought it was my oil pan but once I changed that gasket it didnt help the problem, it acually got worse... I am going to check and make sure that I have every bolt at the correct torque... but if that dosent solve it I am wondering about gasket sweller... I know that it works, and I am under the impression that brake fluid is the same thing almost... But I need to know how well the stuff burns. And if it dosent burn all that great is putting it in and then changing the oil a couple of days later an option? I'll do the ATF treatment too if you people deem this as a good precaution...

Re: Oil Additive Question... Not about MMO

I had a side seal leak around were you add oil and I put about 1/2 bottle of brake fluid in the oil and ran the car for 1/2 a day. Not all together but during the day, and I changed the oil right after that, put new oil filter, added a can of restore also, just in case. My engine has not leaked since. I'm not sure if will do the same for you but if you are going to put brake fluid, you must change the oil withing the same day. It burns but you will smell it for a few days... nothing major but the smell will stick with the car for a few days. after that is ok..Again, I did it and it work so far but I'm not sure if it will work on everyone's car..

It wasn't leaking much, but it had a small amount of oil right on the area were the oil neck and the housing meet. It would puttle there while driving at high speed. It hasn't since. But like I said before, it might work on yours or it might not.. It did on mine.....for the time being...

Ok, where is it... Is that the other thing in the oil pan besides the low level indiacter? I'm gonna crawl under it today with a beer or 6 and try to watch for the drip.

ok, I think I might have located the oil leak... Its the thing that goes into the oil pan, not the warning sensor, but the other thingie that is held in with 3 screws... What it is I dunno... I changed the oil pan gasket awhile back, and put it back on, it didnt seem to have a gasket but thinking about it, it must! Can I just use high temp silicone gasket? Or do they make a gasket for it that would be better to use... I'm gonna change that and then clean the **** outta my engine, as its covered in oil head to toe on the drivers side, and see if I still get leaks. It looks like absolute ****. Any hints to doing that other than making sure the intake it sealed shut? Should I spray down the cables and linkages with WD-40 or something like that when I'm done?
