So basically everyone in here is in agreement that it would be best to tear the engine apart, spec everything replace gaskets if everything is fine BEFORE the engine was to go. It actually sounds like a good idea. I've looked at my apex seals just through the spark plug holes with a mirror, which doesnt show a whole lot, but they were in really good condition.. no nicks or anything. I have good compression, and the car still pulls damn hard for an NA, but with all you guys blowing up your rear rotor's, I am setting up a fund for the rebuild now. I have 292,000 kms, and am not worried about a rebuild within the next 38,000 kms or so. I am guessing that I will get 330k out of the stock SE engine for sure, but you NEVER know.
