offset/backspacing for 17 inch wheels on a 82 gs

I will be special ordering a set of 17 inch konig blatant (carbon color) for my 82 gs. I know the 4x110 bolt patern but I need to know the offset.

I know that the offset for 17s on a gsl se is like 40-45.
would it be the same on a gs. they have slightly different suspension setups right.

Do a search, for "Offset". I believe this was (sort of) covered recently in a thread.

25mm offset, stock backspacing I'm not sure of. You may be able to get away with a 7" wheel but you might run into rubbing problems with the suspension.

the gslse is that different. maybe I was reading it wrong but discount tire direct said 40 offset for all the gsl se 17x7 inch wheels.

Do you have 7 in wide wheels or are you relaying info.
I am ordering custom rims and it is expensive, so I need to make sure.
thanks.

I have run 38mm on 16x7 and 40mm offset on 17x7 on a GSL-SE, but have no clue on a GSL

Yes, GSL-SE is 40mm. Non-SEs are 25mm offset.

SE has the same offset and bolt pattern as an Accord and the like, 4x114.3 with 38-40mm

I have a 16x7 on my GSL with 28mm offset.
