Odd starting problem

My little bro is working on an RX7 and came across an odd starting problem.
Yesterday, it started just fine, ran just fine. It had a clogged coolant hose (possible blown motor?), which is why it was in the shop.
Today, he goes to start it, and turns the key, and NOTHING happens, not even a buzz.
He tests the starter, the battery, they both test fine. He decides to try and push start it anyway.
He pushes it while the other kid is turning the key, and it goes BRAP, backfires, and then the wheels lock. He said he got the same result about six times.

Any clues, or is there something you want me to ask him about it?

Thanks a ton, guys!

Pull the plugs and see if there is water in there.
Also put it in nuetral and see if you can turn the engine by hand by using a 19mm socket on the front e-shaft bolt.

Okay, he cranked it by hand already, so now I guess it's the plugs to try. Thanks.

Jay, you still owe me money, and I will not go away. You've owed be $250 for the past 2 years for a set of wheels I never recieved. There was no tracking information, no shipping reciepts or anything.

Apparently you have enough money to buy marijuana and smoke it. But not enough money to even give me some sort of partial refund or payments?
