Odd noises at lower rpms/deaccel

The first noise is free rev and under load, deaccel/accel. I don't got a method of recording it (Maybe my laptop can) so sorry if my description fails, its kinda a scary sound considering the omp doesnt appear to be pumping, luckly I've been running a few cans of 2 cycle since I got her

It's like a uh, a kinda sound in the fassion clipping something to a bike and it taps on the spokes.

So when its revved it goes tatata like a cllliiiiccck from the engine. My bro has a 79 12A and I never recall any noises like this, it also kinda made him go :|. It's mostly on deaccel from 3krpm, with the hood open its really loud, outside/cabin it's just a REALLY annoying sound over time, I've never herd any rotary engine make that noise that I can recally

It almost sounds like the flapper in the carb hat is fluttering but i held it open/closed, it also does it with the carb hat off....

2nd noise is under hard stopping or odd things with the clutch/moving forward, its a clunking sound, what would that be most likely?

taking her in for new brakes tmrw ~_~ those things couldn't even lock up the tires half the time, and it's not predictable, I had the rears start locking before a turn on a mountain twisty road. Scary

1st sound makes me think of spark knock...but i'm not sure maybe someone else can chime in on that.

2nd sound, description is a bit vague, does it only happen in certain gears? only when you press or let go of the clutch? only forward, or does it happen in reverse also? only when you go to shift? finally, from what relative area does the sound seem to be coming from?

Sure will, I accidentally 1st too quick while slowing down and the car just shook abunch so I'm sure it's some joint/mount is bad

Oh and the fluttering sounds like this but more carb'd 12a style hehe

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxUmud-JLic

Seriously, so wtf my car makes a similar sound as to a fuel injected 13b, maybe it's the exhaust has a little leak?

Can't listen to the audio right now, but that clicking sound you described could be a misaligned distributor cap...

man that second one sounds worse than your car lol. i'm still going with spark knock...or it COULD be exhaust leak, but it doesn't sound like nail on the blackboard like i've experienced before lol

What causes spark knock :S

Its just a clicky sound.

I'm thinking of carbing a 13b 4port soon me thinks, the 12a needs alot of work. No matter how much premix I add my exhaust isnt any different, I added some to the carb and it was a plume. Dirty fuel filter maybe, it seems to be starved sometimes not sure.

I want to upgrade the ignition soon since it'll work for the 13b too, hopefully that fixes the weird noise and missing idle.

it goes down into the rats nest, cant fallow it far. Its thick enough for a small pinky finger to fit in it.

Air flutters out and when idle is held below 3000 it has a steady fluttering of air its def the sound source

FSM didnt help nor did googling.

I know there is some info on here on how to do it. Just do a search. I've never done it as neither of my RX-7s had shutter valves (SA and GSL-SE).

I think you just cap the vacuum source, then wire the valve open... Anybody?

What should I cap it with :S

I tried the battery, now no noise but I don't want to keep the AA battery in there lol. I can't think of anything that I could stick in the hole without spending $
