I have an 85 gsl... i ripped the water / oil cooler out and replaced it with an 83 oil cooler that mouts in the front of the rad.... my car is running fine oild pressure regular... and everything else seems fine... except cold starts are rough and it now makes a wierd wurring noise.... did anyone else have these symptoms or does anyone else know what it is?

oh yeah my car has 244 000 klicks doesn't burn oil and runs strong

 

My dads car is an Sa, and its got the front mount cooler. It has trouble cold starting, and has a wierd sound when it starts, but it mostly the starter. It might just be the way its plummed up. Oh yeah, his car had 380k clicks on it before the motor started to go (he replaced it before it died). Those Sa's are tanks.

 

'83 also had water/oil...

 

actually the 83 i got the cooler from was my own and it was registered as an 83 due to the s/n.... so maybe they had both in that year

 

All '83 had water/oil coolers... '79-82 had the oil cooler that mounts under the radiator, and GSL-SE ('84-85) had the oil cooler in front. Maybe a previous owner swapped already?
