Now that it's running...here she is (newbie)
Thanks on the help on getting 'er running. Now here are a few pics. '83 with ~83,000 miles. Seems to be running well now, but brakes are weak.
Here is the culprit plug
New Autolites working for now. (I know, Iknow)
Engine bay looks pretty clean
Spot of rust on door where paint chipped?
Cracked plastic
PO bondo'd here to prevent a leak?
Overall very clean, even the undercarriage. (Best pic I can get for now in my cluttered garage even though I'm -1 dirtbike I traded for the car.
Now on to those brakes to see how she is on the road, any help with common failures welcome!

Looks like they were painted. You have yourself a base model S. Mine came with the hubcaps still intact. the car does seem pretty clean(minus the dust LOL) and with low miles. Also if you can't get the NGK plugs, Denso Nippons work pretty well too. Get her on the road and let us know how she is

Nice car! You'll like the handling of the lightweight 83 model, one of my faves. The 83s also had excellent paintjobs: durable and responsive to polishing. You should be able to match the color. And when you buff it out it will gleam.

About your brakes, have you tried bleeding them? Mine had no brakes at all and the master cylinder was completely dry but I just filled it up bled the brakes and it was good as new.

Thanks for the brake tip....bleeding was my first thought. I'm still not sure whether mine is an S or GS, and whether it really matters. Looks to me the earlier S models didn't have a rear anti-roll bar, but in '83 they both did? I have also noticed one site saying the '83s got a stronger clutch, but another says it came in '84. I checked the plugs for length before I put them in, they were the same as the old ones just cleaner. I was careful not to overtighten and am sure I'd know by now if they were the wrong plugs. If the plugs were hitting the apex seals, I'd have a hell of a racket wouldn't I? Anyway, thanks for all the wellwishes and advice. I have a bit to do with the car before I drive it regularly, and appreciate all the feedback. I am a member of a few forums (mostly motorcyce related), and this one already feels like one of the more informative ones. Glad to be a member.

The options just got plain stupid after awhile..."now the vin plate says we have power windows but the gas tank build sheet says it was ordered without and had an LSD, but the sheet under the passenger's seat says it was just an S model, no options. but the dealer had it ordered with a sunroof" Gets annoying, I can't even determine what my '85 is.
