Question Noticable Difference????

Ok, here's the deal.
I'm still relatively new to RX-7s (in other words i know pretty much f*ck all about them.....YET!!!)
So i have a few quick questions, if you all don't mind helpin me out. And having some patience with me.
i own a 84GSL 12A
Ok here goes, what is the purpose of the air pump?
Can i remove it??? Will it help performance???
Does it have anything to do with the exhaust??
I already have no cats, a high flo muffler and i'm putting headders on very soon.

Also, i'm thinking of replacing the rad fan with an electric fan. Is this a good idea?????

I'm removing the A/C (as far as i'm concerned, if i want air.........i can roll down the window.)

Basically, like everyone, i want my car to go faster!!!

If any if these things will make a significant improvement, (or even a minor improvement) i wouldn't mind knowing before i start ripping my car apart!!!

If anyone has anymore ideas on what i can do to improve performance in my car, preferablly things that won't cost me extremely large amounts of money right now.
Suggestions GREATLY Appricated!!!

thanks!

~Vince~

DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost every one here has gone down your road. Everything you are proposing is going to help. Since you don't have your cats there is no reason for the air pump.

It's supposed to help clean the exhaust or some **** like that. Goddam smog ****'s. Just get rid of it, you'll be happy you did. An electric fan is definatly a good idea. It should free up several HP (or so I'm told). I'm keeping my A/C. When it's turned off it doesn't take any power. So if you want to go fast just turn it off, when you want to stay cool it's there for you. just my $.02 later

not to make myself sound like a dumbass but.....
is it hard to install a temp sensor, and where should i put it?? Just anywhere in a coolant line???
also, do you know the temp rating of the temp sensor, so it tells the fan when to kick in???

On the Black Magic fans its a little metal probe that is pushed inbetween the fins of the radiator next to the inlet hose.

I think i will leave the air pump on for now, and wait until i get the electric fan. I don't want the alt belt slipping!
As for the A/C......it's all gonna go tomorow, except the evaporator.

thanks for the advice brake

P.S. i think i'm gonna hold out for the Black Magic fan
