lots of pb blaster, breaker bar and a brace for the flywheel, sometimes even a screwdriver will work if you have one thick enough to slide between the top dust/inspection cover and the slot in the flywheel...its a bitch sometimes. i also found it easier to go ahead and loosen the nut on the front pulley first, that one was harder than the flywheel on my engine.

Heat, hammer and 2 pry bars. This usually works best with an extra pair of hands. Heat the flywheel right around the e-shaft. Use 2 pry bars and put between flywheel and block. Pull on pry bars toward the rear on the engine while striking the outer flat part (the part facing you). I have taken quit a few flywheels off this way. BTW, leave the nut on the shaft just put on with a few threads. That way when the flywheel pops loose, it won't fly off and make you bust your a$$

I used a soft blow hammer and was patient. To get the nut off I put a breaker bar on it and a 8 foot long pipe and just keep at it until it broke the torque. It eventually popped off...
Be careful not to hit the pressure surface or the teeth, so you have to be precise.
I took off a rusted junkyard motor flywheel to extract low mileage housings. I was quite surprised how easy it was with the motor on a stand and a proper flywheel stop.

No need for a gear puller and many of them will damage the pilot bearing. I tried gear pullers early on with a plate protecting the pilot bearing and found them to be a waste of time. They did work in that they put tension on the flywheel but still needed a sharp rap with a hammer/hand sledge to pop the flywheel off. That's when I learned that the nut needed to be left on as the flywheel lived up to it's name and came flying off. Got my feet out of the way just in time.

yea but i didn't get the full engine apart i thought it said you had to remove those two dowel pins or w.e to get the engine housings seperated
can you take them apart without removing the dowel pins?

Do not try and drive that dowel pin through. It has spread and may damage the housing. It will have to be driven out from the other side. My guess is you used too large of a bolt and split the dowel pin.
Pulling the other dowel and rotating the housing will work just fine. A lug bolt or one of the rear control arm bolts is the right size and pitch. I use either one with a box wrench that's smaller than the bolt head and tap on the wrench to drive the pin out.
