Correct. I even made a video of the differences, I just never got around to posting it.
I might try it tonite, after I catch up.
I upgraded the harness, because I was originally going to upgrade the wattage significantly, and it doesn't hurt, since the original wiring is 20 years old, and supposedly goes through the stock switch.
The Fat-Buy bulbs are supposed to provide *alot* more light, using very minimal draw.
It actually provides more light using low beams, than the high beams, according to IPF.
I like the idea, since I use the low beams only about 99% of the time.

Fatboy draws 80 watts on low beam, 60 watts on high beam
Optical equivalent to 190 watt low beam, 150 watt high beam

That's a nice crisp beam pattern, DF
An associate of mine has excellent HID projectors for half of what they used to go for ($540/pair, bixenon). I wish I had the resources to make a DOT compliant flush clear cover

I have the Hella H4 housings with 100/170w bulbs and the heavy duty harness from here: http://www.rocky-road.com/ipfH4.html
The hi-beams are F'ng bright and harness is top quality. I just installed some IPF driving/fogs too. I drive the canyons a lot at night - all of them made a big difference.

Wow you're a SERIOUSLY NICE GUY!! I was just trying to help and dont have THE ONLINE RESOURCES like you!!Thanks MANNTIS! I MISSED THE BLACK DRAGON PART POSTED EARLIER.
zaridar, I know you were trying to help, as was Manntis. He was being a sarcastic, with a little humor thrown in - but he meant no harm. He's just become a little darker individual since the loss of his beloved Pamela.

IPF wants a Large order for me to go direct so I am contacting one of their wholesale houses hoping for a smaller order.

If you want HIDs, buy proper HIDs. Don't do some half-assed 'conversion' that might a) have improper focus and crappy cutoff, blinding oncoming drivers and b) get you some rather expensive tickets.

i was going to wire some up in to my old bug but never actually got the 3 chamber lamps to wire them up i hate wiring but i do know what im doing in most cases. i did say in most cases the harness in the rex that i had was so hacked up by the guy that sent it to me i couldnt even work with it and had to get a new one but i would do the HID conversion right if i could find the proper ballasts and relays so i dont fry anything i would go for the self leveling kind they work the best if i do the conversion im just wondering if anyone has done this yet?

the self-leveling kind are ECE, not DOT, compliant - you may have trouble getting them by your local inspection stations, if you have 'em.
If you can' though, the HIDs from the new Mini look great on Bugs.
