No Spark No Fuel!!!!! Help!!!

I was driving home the other day and had the cars tac suddenly drop to 0, then the car sputtered and stopped running. I had the car towed home thinking it was the fuel pump, it would start and run for a second or two after it sat for several minutes. Before i started ripping things apart i tested for power to the fuel pump and there was nothing, i have also checked for spark and there is nothing. Is there a fuse for the fuel pump and ignition??? and if so where is it, my car has the fuse cover missing so i cant tell what fuse is what. Oh ya by the way the car is 85 gs with the 12a.

Fuse for fuel pump is located on the right side as you are looking at it. There is also the engine fuse too.

Possible your trailing ignitor went out when it goes out the fuel pump doesn't get power.

^^^^My Vote^^^^

And you would loose spark on the trailing plugs.

Swap the plugs on the ignitors and see if it will fire

Ive tried swaping the plugs on the coils and still nothing. I have been driving it before and it had a sudden loss of power, wouldnt pull over 3000rpm and would stumble if given more than 1/4 gas. I know the fuel pump is working i did the test with the jumper wire under the dash, but with everything hooked back up there is still no fuel flow or spark.

But try swapping the ignitors on the side of the distributor. The thing is swapping the wires on the coil won't affect the fuel pump. But swapping the ignitors effects the fuel pump, and it may run.... And if it does it will run like crap, but you need to get a new ignitor.

If you have a timing light, see if you are getting either trailing or leading spark, if you have one but not the other than its a dead giveaway your problem is your ignitor.

Thanks a lot man, i went outside and tried what you said. Fired up almost instantly, like you said it will run, but it runs like crap. Any idea how much they cost?

thanks again

Well you best bet is to goto the 1st gen parts section. New from the dealership they are something like 200 dollars or something rediculous. There is some guys on here that stock them up and could probally get a couple for 20-30 bucks.

Or if you have a local junkyard, and they have a FB your in luck, you can get them pretty cheap.

Alternatively and if you don't find an ignitor easily and need to drive the car, hook the jumper wire under the dash again and return the working ignitor to the leading position. It'll run better with no trailing ignition than with no leading ignition, and with the jumper wire hooked, you don't have to worry about the fuel pump not getting juice because of no working trailing ignitor.
