FS: Nikki Turbo Hats

I'm going to start making and selling turbo hats for Nikki carbs. Anyone that needs one just send me a PM. I can make them with any size inlet pipe you want. I'm asking $100+ shipping for them. Shipping should be less than $10 for anywhere in the US.

Here's how they look:

Once I get my weber I'll start making and selling turbo hats for webers too. Also, if my custom intake manifold turns out good, I'll start selling them too.

Mods, I know it should really be in the for sale section, but more people that are needing turbo hats will see it here.

You could do it that way, but this way is much easier. Just use a carb hat, get a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, and do a couple mods to the nikki carb. Rotaryshack can do the carb. And I think Sterling and Carl might start doing the mods too.

Did you have to use a heavy "O" ring to help seal?

Yea, I'm on the brink of having my SP 12a turbo setup done, I just need a weber turbo hat from robert, and I havent been able to get in touch with him for about a month now about the parts. I trust I'll be getting them eventually. Kinda makes me wish I had gone a different route, now im stuck with a half-completed project

No, the lip of the carb hat is machined to fit the carb top tightly. No air excapes. If you want to be sure, you could use a silicone gasket sealer or a thick grease, but mine have all sealed perfectly without it.

Yeah, the one I sent you turned out nice. It was perfectly clean and sandblasted, but it got a little dirt on it from sitting in my garage waiting for the m/o I PM'd you the tracking number, it should be there in a day or two.

If I had an IDA carb here I could make them no problem. But I also don't know of anyone using an IDA for a turbo setup. Robert has tried and the floats of the IDA don't work right with boost, they crush easily, and if you make them solid they don't work right anymore and he said it runs like ****. If you find a way to get an IDA to work right with boost, then I could probably get you a hat made without too much trouble. I will start making weber dco-sp(I think will fit DCOE too)turbo hats as soon as I get my carb here.

Get a stock TII 13b manifold and grind it to fit the 12a exhaust gasket. To get it to clear the stock intake manifold you also need to space it out a bit from the engine. Or you could use a different intake manifold(j-spec 12aT) and it would work fine.

I'm sure somebody makes nitrophyl floats for the IDA don't they? If not then they damn well should.

Greg,

I'm not trying to start another "Let's all **** on Robert" thread, but with all due respect to you, I think it's pretty ****** obvious what I'm "talking about".

Fact is, Greg, I can come up with 4 people who are disappointed by Robert for every truely satisfied customer of his that you can.

My personal problem with Robert?
I think he's a nice guy! But he's fucked up the opportunity of free advertising for those of us who have not been pissing off customers.
IMO, given my limited experience, he should've concentrated more on tying up his loose ends instead of plugging his new numbers. He doesn't seem to realize what a smack in the face it can be for customers who have been waiting for all too long for parts to read about his latest accomplishments -time that should've been spent getting their parts out to them.
Time they feel they've paid for.

You sound like an excited little groupie at an Aerosmith concert. How would you feel if your turbo project was months away, instead of only weeks, and it was some else dragging their feet on you?

Now-
That's all I'm going to say about it, and Matt, my advice as a craftsman to you is to plug your product all on your own, and disassociate your hard (good) work with Robert till he get's on his feet again.

And if this turns into another "**** Robert" fuckfest, I'll petition the boys to cut everything but coldy's posts out.

Now here again is my shameless plug...

I am doing this on my own. I just decided to list you and Robert as places to get their carbs set up for boost since I don't know how to do it myself yet. BTY, do you and carl have any there ready to test on boost yet?

Robert is a great guy, but he is overloaded at his shop right now, and he could really use some help to get everything done. He tells this to people that order from him too, so they can expect it, but for some reason those people still get mad when it happens.

We're working on boost-prepping Nikkis.
I have to do more research on the relationship of fuel delivery and the air flow velocity. The emulsion tube air jet range we supply now is perfect for NA, but I don't think that relationship is linear for all pressures.

Think these hats would work for a cold air setup with a conical filter at the end of the pipe?

Yeah, they would work for that too, but I'm not too sure if the flow would be good or not.
