Nikki carb secondary operation?

A simple question on a stripped Nikki, should you see the secondary butterfly open if you are running engine in neutral and just open the carb fully by hand? I am not sure that the vacuum is working an i am trying to stay away from mechanical secondary setup.

free revving the ending will not cause them to open. there's just not enough of a vacuum signal for them to open before they close. engine needs to be under a load. there's a thing called the bread tie trick where u wrap a small piece of wire a few times around the plunger shaft, and slide it up to the top. then go do some wot pulls. if they r working, u will see the wire has moved to the bottom.

Michael,
Thanks, I will try that test. Seems like it should be easy to do, hope to see movement.
Regards, Marty
