I got her running, my problem was that the ports on the dizzy for the vacuum advace was not capped, so I piped the to ports together and now the thing starts up great and revs really good too

The ports on the dizzy do not draw vacuum, they hook up to a vacuum supply. Capping the nipples on the dizzy, or linking them together with a hose, will make no difference. You must have done something else while you were under there....
