I'm running NGKs aswell .. I found 10$ a plugg to be .. well .. not TOO bad ... until I went to buy some with my frind who's got a V8 and bought 8 for like 15-20$ :P kinda pissed me off but ... I still was faster then his firebird so I figure the extra $ ws worth the laugh at him :P mouhahahA !
Never, never use Champions!
They can gaull thethreads and then you cannot remove them (as in you need new rotorhousings).
Always, always use an antiseize on the plug threads.
Peejay said has talked about "cut down" autolites, but I have not heard back from him what he means. It may be interesting.

It's simple... you get a set of Autolite 3923's. They're just standard spark plugs, I think they were used in a '95 Contour 2.0l or something. I took the used set, cut off the ground electrode X length Y angle and bent it down/in so that I had a nice .035-.040" gap that was parallel to the side of the center electrode, and it was no taller than the center electrode. Takes half a minute after you've done a few. They seem to last much MUCH longer than the BR8ET's, they don't seem to foul as easily, they have a 5/8" hex so they don't require any special spark plug socket, and they're CHEAP.
Sounds like a win on all counts.

Your loss.
Any spark plugs can ruin your engine. That's why I've never pulled the spark plugs in the '85 - they won't come out. Corroded in place, something common around here. A shame, since I found a spare set of NGK race plugs that I never got round to trying.

Never tried iridium, but have run NGK and autolites. IMO if Autolites were all that bad then Mazdatrix wouldn't be running them in the race cars. Good enough for me. Can see no difference in the performance either.
peejay, the side-fire spark plugs are neat, but I don't think that autolites are the way to go.
I've tried the NGK "V Power" R5672A plugs trimmed for side fire with a .75 gap (for the MSD) but the 10 heat range which I thought was too cold. I've got some 8's but I have to trim them still.
