newbie...Getting HOT

ok 1st post. i have a 83 gs got it about 3 mts back and im getting hot...or what i think is hot. car info. 83 12a with 81 style air to oil cooler and NEW 3 core short rad.(automatic) the preveios owner said it was street ported but i cant tell u for sure. its got a stock 4 brl carb on a stock intake. and a header to the stock exh. it also has a body kit...veras.....something or other. and a elc. fan its a flex-o-lite.
Now my question. i think im getting hotter than i should be. in the 100+ daily temps we are getting im seeing 2/3 hot with no a/c on and about 3/4 + with it on... i turn it off pretty fast i dont want to over heat this thing. when i go down the road it gets warm/hot but if i pull up to a traffic light the temp goes down pretty fast. what could this be?
I have done the following.
swaped the thermostate(195) to a mazda 185 and then removed it all together...saw no change
removed the front airdam.... saw no change. looked for stuff clogin up the airflow/ rad/a/c thing up front... nothing there to block the flow. What do you guys/ gals think?

Is there any white smoke coming out of the tailpipe? Have you checked your coolant fluid level? Your car sounds pretty sweet!

is all the original sheet metal around the front of the rad and oil cooler? if not then the air is blowing around it. sitting still the fan would still draw through it bringing your temp back down. also what is your mixture percentage? 10/90 af to water will help you since water has better cooling properties.

another idea is that your tranny fluid needs changed as its old and sludged with extra crap causing the auto to heat up while moving and raise your temps.

the a/c will always raise your temps so that is sort of null and void. just an normality that seems worse since your running warm as it is.

ok a tad bit more info. the car is a 5 speed, with a 3 core auto tranny rad. the non auto tranny rad is 2 core, or so i was told. yes all the metal is around the rad. top, 2 sides and the skid plate thing on the bottom. when the P.O. put on the body kit he removed part of the stock front dam. would this have anything to do with it? and the mix is 50/50 ant/ water. no smoke from the pipes and nope its right at the full mark
