Question 81 AT distributor

I just purchased a 81 gsl automatic for a hundred dollars. The engine misses bad. When I rev it up to about 5000 rpm the miss seems to go away, but at idle it is realy bad. I have been looking at the manual and it shows 2 different distributors for the manul tran. and automatic. The dist. in my car looks like it has been changed to one from a manual tran. Could this be my problem? Are the two interchangeable? The engine only has 60000 k. I have tried the ATF treament with no change except the fire department showing up at my house, that was a real treat.

Well, I odnt know for sure, but my educated guess would be that if they show two different ones, then they probably have two different ones for a reason. You could just try checking the timing and see if that helps, maybe new plugs.
