Question New To Rx7 Rotary Want To Build It Up A Littel

JUST GOT A 1980 RX7 DRIVING IT NOW ITS CARBED
HOW CAN I TWEEK I DON'T KNOW THE TRICKS TO A ROTARY
THE COLD START TANK SHOULD I BE USING IT AND WHAT GOES IN IT ?
WHAT OIL SHOULD I USE IN THIS SYNTHETIC OR NOT AND WHAT VISCOCITY?
HOW MANY RPMS SHOULD I RUN IT WHERE SHOULD I SHIFT AT
WHAT IS THE BEST EXAUST FOR PROFORMANCE DO I NEED MUFLERS OR STREIGHT PIPES
HOW DO I GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS ROTARY
IS THIS A 12A HOW DO I TELL
I ALSO HAVE A 1986 RX7 13B I PICKED UP WITH A BLOWN ENGINE ITS LOCKED UP WHAT IS A COMAN CAUSE FOR A LOCK UP IN A 13B INJECTED?
I KNOW THIS IS A LOT OF QUESTIONS BUT I'M SORRY I KNOW HOW TO MAKE ANY OTHER ENGINE RUN LIKE A RAPED CHICKEN SO NOW I WANT'ED A CHALENGE AND I NEED SOME INPUT FROM YOU SO I CAN LEARN
IT DON'T HAVE PISTONS SO I CAN'T BORE AND STOKE IT
BUT PORTING IS STILL AN OPTION WHEN I FIG OUT THE REST OF THE TRICKS SO I KNOW WHAT IT NEEDS AND WHERE IT NEEDS IT
I WANT TO EAT SOME HONDAS FOR LUNCH SUCKING THEM IN THE INTAKE AND SPITING THEM OUT THE TALEPIPE HAS CROSSED MY MIND I CAN BUILD A PISTON CAR TO EAT THEM BUT ITS TO EASY FOR ME THIS 1980 RX7 WON'T TOUCH THEM STOCK THEY ARE FAST AND TO MAKE IT REAL BAD I BUILT A FEW OF THEM MOTORS WE HAVE A SAFE PLACE TO RACE SO DON'T WORRY WE DON'T ROAD RACE ON OPEN ROAD
ANY FACTS NEEDED!

First searching does wonders, Secondly mazspeed.com has alot of answer for most of your questions. Oh yea turn cap lock off, It's hard as hell on the eyes.
20w-50 non synthtic oil is whats mostly used.
Shift at whatever rpm you want.
Racingbeat.com sell alot of performance parts for RX-7s
It should say on the driver's side of the block if it's a 12a.
On your 13b try the ATF treatment. (use mazspeed for reference)
That's about it, Please use the search button next time.

So you want to make your car fast, eh?

Here's a recent thread about some of the simple upgrades/repairs that your first get might take well to. Exhaust on a rotary is critical. Watch out though, because they're also extremely loud. If you're wanting to stay NA, Racing Beat makes a nice long header and exhaust. The presilencers are almost a must. I'd say upgrade the carb next. That should give you around 140-150 Hp, almost a 50% increase.

At that point the biggest restriction is the stock porting. It'll require a rebuild, but it sounds like you're up to the task. Depending on your requirements/budget for the car you can do a street-port, bridge-port, J-port or Peri-Port. Anything more wild than a street-port will make the car a little less drivable -- poor gas mileage, and extremely loud. With a streetport around 200Hp is definately possible. With a bridge Jport or PPort and you ca get anywhere from 200-300Hp depending on port style/shape/size, and ofcourse the intake and exhaust you put on it.

If you want to go FI, then the sky is the limit on power. Porting of course still applies, but turbo sizing, and boost pressures are more of a determining factor. On a fairly simple turbo setup running stock ports, 300WHp is not out of the question. There is a member on this board that has a 12A who's name says it all 680HP12A... supposedly hes got more than that out of it now.

As for your questions:
The cold start tank is useless, remove it.

General consensus is that synthetic doesn't burn well, and thus shouldn't be used. I doubt the claims, but I'm not running the stock oil injection anyway, so I use 15w-50 Mobile1.

On a stock engine, you really won't get much power by reving beyond redline, but with exhaust and other mods you might try 7500 or so. With the stock apex seals you probably shouldn't rev beyond 8500 or so.

Headers and strait pipes if you can stand your ears bleeding from time to time

If your 7 s carbed, it almost a garauntee that your engine is a 12A, that and in 1980 that was the only engine they came with.

A locked engine could be as simple as carbon-lock, or as nasty a break-down as they come.

Good luck with your 7.

Now this is the reply I was looking for thanks fatboy7
I don't trust any one around this area that I know
with a porting job on my rortary so it looks like I will be
doing the work where can I get the best facts on porting one of these
should you polish the intake ports or leave them a sandpaper finish to keep the air and fuel mixed
