I think that would look cool if you had one of these

http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/pr...cat=589&page=1

and an appropriate carb.

I'm not a 2barrel guy myself but it would be cool because then the intake is out of the way on the passenger's side of the engine, the alternator is out of the way on the driver's side, and all you get is the bare top of the keg. It would really highlight the engine's shape, and make people go "okay, WTF is that?" when you pop the hood to let a pistonhead take a look in.

i have wanted one since i saw the pineapple one over a year ago. the main reason i want it is to be able to run my ic piping the way i want without stuff being in the way. im not a big fan of the airboxes, and the ideas i have the alt will be in the way.

and please let us know when there are pics of this setup.

I think that we're all waiting for someone to take the plunge and buy one and take pics of it.

I have one of the pineapple ones that I never installed. I'm probably going to end up selling it.

Turns out I moved to FL and really like the idea of working AC again.

The Guru piece I have is like the one pictured, except it's black anodized.

OK....I can't stand it anymore! I'm taking the plunge. I'm ordering the kit. I'll post pics and give my impressions when I receive the kit.

Definatly post pics when you get the kit, I'm interested in one too for my T2 swapped FB, the alternator makes getting at some of the "top end" parts on that engine a pain. I just wonder if this will work with the Re-speed rack/pinion kit since the steering shaft goes down around there.
I'm assuming that serpentine style belt would be if that kit is used on a FD, the listing says its for all years 74-current.... I'm assuming the FB/FC kit would have a normal belt....

Well, I've got the two dollars, but not the equipment, nor the skill to make this kit. So, I've ordered the kit. Total cost is $115 delivered.

I broke 3 of the pineapple kits... They were just a bad design. The worst part was the fix that they had sent me after I sent him some redesigns. I have 1 left that I modded the way I wanted it. I will try and get some pix of it this week. I frankly don't think that i'll use it anymore since my front iorn is modded to feed the oil cooler instead of the front cover, kinda like a dry sumped 20B. Frankly if your reason for this mod is for more contact on the water pump pulley to reduce slipage then I'm sorry the mod is crap... yes now the water pump has more belt contact, but now the main pulley has the same belt contact that the water pump used to have so the belt still slips... This mod does nothing to fix the water pump slippage problem.

I'm running this kit to free up the top of the keg and I will be running dual belts: one across the water pump and the other across the alternator.

That works too, but remember there is no way to properly tention a "yahoo" belt and they have been known to cause excessive water pump bearing failure. so much so that I and a mazda tech friend of mine have never heard of a mazda water pump bearing ever failing except when a "yahoo" belt is used...

Mine has been running well with a yoohoo/yahoo belt for the better side of a year...

I had my alternator belt snap before. If I had the dual alternator pully both would have gone out leaving me stranded for a tow. With the yoohoo I drove home a-ok.

everyone seems to be bashing on the pineapple guys when I now for a fact that if you install the parts correctly you won't break them. my 79 has had the alt relocation kit from pineapple for the better part of a year and a half now and it still works perfectly. Trust me I have tried mostly everything out there for the alt relocation, the guru setup was one that snapped on my 7. I wouldn't touch the atkins because of their belt design, hard to get the bet when your out of town in hick-ville and you snap a belt. Have the Gilmer kit in my garage and that damn this squeals at 5k and will not quit squealing. Rob's Kit is the only one that has worked and kept the stock belt (common at ANY auto store). I HAVE WASTED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TESTING THESE OUT, and Rob's has been the best. As for the yoohoo belt, if it doesn't look like it fits right, don't use it, you probably ordered the wrong one. If you do not believe me about this stuff, fine, but check out my threat on my 7 at nopistons under "the rebirth of my 78" before you call me a liar because its all documented AND TIME STAMPED. and yes my 7 is one of the first 5000 rx-7's ever built so yes it is a 78 because it was made in september of 78. CHEERS!!

It's gonna take some fidgeting, but I'm going to try to put a tensioner where the air pump used to be. That should eleviate that potential problem.

The serpentine belt in the pic is for those who are running those already on their alternator. I'll be using the standard-easy-to-get-always-have-a-spare-in-my-bin belt.

My Pineapple alt bracket cracked at the bottom, cleaned it up, welded a L bar support on it and was good as new(I run solid engine mounts). I like the Pineapple kit, unfortunatly the ReSpeed R&P Steering kit will force me to find a new home for the altenator. Seen some creative racing applications on altenator placement. I'll post something when the time comes, got to get my Kaaz lsd first.....never enough money for all the goodies as once!

Pour one out for a fallen brother my friends. Blake was an awesome guy that did some great things for the rotary community. He and Rob have helped me so much over the last few years that, I my eyes, they are as good as gold. Sorry everyone for going a little over board a bit but I honestly trust my car, and my life (since I race my car) in their work and I am still here and so is my car so that should be a testiment to them. Thanks Rob for all the help over the years,

and Blake, you are missed.

As for Dan you picked all this stuff up pretty fast and you have been more then hospitable (especially when you met me at lloyd center to get those RB springs, lol)

i might run the "yoohoo" belt thing just because i dont have the ability to run a double alt pulley in SCCA. That and i would be willing to bet that alot of the people who have water pump failures were also running 15+ year old water pumps...
