I think it is all about the cars. If you guys have a hatred for hondas then so be it. I don't really hate any car. I mean there is soo much you can learn about everything why take the time to hate something that you don't know anything about. The honda owners that want to race you are just plain stupid, you have rx7 owners that are this way as well. If you are only open to one car you are ignorant. **** the list at my house is 1 Nissan sentra ser with a sr20de, 1 ealge talon Tsi, 1 civic, and one rx7. ANd they are all soon to be turboed. So why hate on other people's car unless they are retarded ricers.

And yes I do have FWD wheels on the rx7, there are things call wheel spacers, and when you do that, you of all people should know you need a higher offset wheel. I am not some stupid kid, I know my **** with most things. I have been working with rotaries since I was a little kid, and that is still where my heart is. LoL. I remember one time I over reved my 12a and put a hole in the dizzy cap. I have it in the basement. I think its time for some pics.

Its cool dude, I get offensive real fast about my cars. But those pics are from like 3 years ago when my throttle stuck and my little 12a saw like 10,0000 rpms, by accident. It broke the alternator belt and we didn't know it but blew a hole in the dizzy and messed up the rotor. We had an extra one, threw it on and I was driving again later that night.

Can't we just say "Nice paintjob for $28. Oh I see you have some design aspirations you're trying to develop, too ! Practice makes perfect"

and then pray quietly to yourself "God I'm glad that's not mine and I think it looks good. Please don't let me be that guy".

well I am glad you don't want the car to be yours. You haven't seen it in person. I want the car. It is just my taste. It is much better than the original though, and nice to have some paint on it and actually fix the body work. Has a new fender and wing.

I like your $28 paint job. I am waiting for the finished pics.

BTW I have a set of stock GSLSE rims (2 sets actually) that are in fair shape. If you are willing to re-do the clear coat and a little work they will probably do pretty good. If you are interested, PM me and make an offer or whatever and we will work something out. I live in VA and could UPS them.

Talking trust me, thats not that bad......

When I was stationed on Okinawa, this air force schmuck painted his rx-3 with that sky blue **** the AF uses for comercial style planes, well let me tell you its a special polyurethane mix that the military likes normal poly is a 10:1 ratio (over here) and the primo stuff is 4:1 (much harder, doesn't scratch, but very hard to color sand) well that sky blue **** was like 1:1 ratio and literally couldn't be sanded, nor normal paint laid over it (much to my dismay when i bought it and tried to repaint it! Tractor enamel, why not especially for 28 bucks.

Oh and Red13b, I realize that you are a much more balanced, forgiving person than I am, but If I had some ****** talking about gay things, and he had a photo of some old geriatric with a strapon on his face I'd be worried that he might actaully be interested in something!

Bwaaaaaa!

Well first of all, it's an incredible job for a tiny amount of money so you should be proud of that. Problem is, if you post to a public forum you need to expect peoples opinions - good or bad. Ultimately, the only person you really need to please is yourself, so if YOU like it that is really all that matters. If you need public attention badly enough to ask for it, you can safely assume that some of that attention will ALWAYS be negative - so be careful what you wish for.

OH, and for all us geezers that stop by here - making a comment that you have been working on rotaries "since you were a kid" is pretty much hilarious! So, you've been working on them since ...................................last week! (badda-bing, rim shot and laugh track inserted here). Any age that ends in "teen" is still suspiciously "kid"! (hehe)

Nice job for not much dough.

Hey, Enema32... The arguing was between between twigg and handah8ter and you want ME kicked off ? You just got past your teens alive and you post 3 times in the past 3 months and you go for me ? I've got your troll, son.

By the way, since I read ALL your posts, I find that not only do we have alot in common ( RX-7, computers, and recording ), but I found that I agree with you 100% on one post of yours in particular: so I'm taking your own previously posted advice when I tell you that you truly suck.

well hell. i like it alot. really like the slant look. quick question. were those rattle cans you used or a sprayer?
i was able to paint mine by myself and my wifes. used some cheap low grade auto paint from sherman williams. cost me $25 a gallon. not bad. my wifes cost me $65 and mine cost me $50 (cause i already had white from work for painting doors). but mine probably looks gay to someone on here. but who cares. i like it and my wife likes hers.
here's hers.

and mines in the sig.

If it weren't for the fact that I'm in the business I'd say it was pretty cool.

But to be completely honest, and not to put you down to hard, but work of this quality really makes painters cringe. We can pick out all the things that are so very wrong with it in comparison to base/clear coat or spray gun painting. I don't know what you did, but the overall quality could have been much better.

Thumbs up

it was spray gun painted. I didn't whip out a stash of paint cans and paint the thing. I understand the quality lacked, but hey I don't want to pay someone to paint my car. I wish I could do it a lot better. But its fine for me. It turned out just fine for how much time I put into it. I mean I put a lot of time into prepping the car, and its not like I actually painted the car myself. My dad who has painted cars before, and use to do it as a job way back when, painted it. I mean the quality was in the paint, not the painter or the prep work I can tell you that much. But it needed paint desperatley, I know it won't live up to everyone's liking, but that is ok too. I did it for seriously $28 and I think it is damn good, for my budget at the time. And I respect everyones comments except "that **** is gay" it seems that was more like oh look, he took it to get painted and it came out like that.. but thats cool.

Oh when I say when I was a kid, I mean when I was like 10 or 12 helping my dad with his 80 RX7, that sadly enough we had to get rid of this year. I had the motor out of that 79 in my 85 for two years, and it decided to take a crap on me at about 200,000 miles. So I was furtunate. But I love the 6-port swap with the holley setup. It feels great. But it feels left out with no turbo on it. So I am working on that part.

I finally see why everyone thinks it was done with spray cans, we just used them to do the door jams and under the hood. It was much easier and practical for us to do it this way. We did the jams first and then sanded it down again, and shot like a guide coat on it, sanded down the high spots. Then painted it in the boost.I should've taken pictures of the paint booth we made to paint some of these cars. We did 4 in one summer, and they turned out well except the first, haha it was my sisters 240sx, so that was ok.

i didn't know if it was a can or not. didn't look like it to me. was just curious for those who want to use it on there cars. if it was cans, it would be alot easier. my spray booth was the grassy part in the pics. ha ha ha. still have some grass in the paint too.

did you guys still sand the paint down to achieve a smooth look, feel, and texture? and if so, what grit?
