New to Forum, searched FAQ and threads, question on interior parts!

Hello folks!

I am thinking about getting an 1982 RX-7 that needs new seats and dash. I previously rebuilt a 1983 back in 1993 and had no problems getting OEM quality parts directly from the factory but suspect they no longer have them. What are folks doing to replace their seats (and I can't tolerate slip on covers, I really want to recover the seats!)?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Scott

Prior cars:
1982 RX-7 (Drove from 83 to 91)
1983 RX-7 (Drove from 93 through 97)
1987 RX-7 (Drove from 97 through 2001)

Scott, welcome back to the 7 scene.
Even though I have not used them - www.victoriabritish.com offers some interesting upholstery kits. Other than that I have used upholstery shops, but sometimes gets expensive.
There is occasionally someone on the forum parting out a car with good seats. Most of the
7's in 84-85 have better upholstery and are easier to find. You always have the option of replacing them with 2nd gen seats also.
As far as the dash, that's a tough one, they are very difficult to find anything in good shape that someone is selling. Other option is to switch out the dash to the 84-85 ones which hardly ever crack. alot of work but worth it in the long run. good luck.

Yeah, they added them recently. Just look at the main 1st Gen. page here. Scroll down a bit and you'll see 'em. They offer pretty much any color/material combination you could want.

Factory Original Materials?

Are there any sources of Mazda factory original velour seat covering, carpet and matching door panels in grey for 84-85's? I mean, they imported over 100,000 cars for those two model years. I realize it's 21-22 years later, but I would think there has to be something out there somewhere. Do we have any Mazda dealer guys in our midst would could PM me any leads? Thanks. Kevin
