i have a 85' gsl and my front right wheel/suspention has a bad rattling noise does anyone have an idea of what it is before i take it apart, i think it could be a bad bearing any symptoms of that would also be appreciated.

Need more information. Is it just a noise, does it vibrate too, what else goes on with it? What corner of the car?

As we all know that as the idler arm bushing that needs replaced. It is an easy job to do and will make the car quite again and make the steering feel better.Do a search on idler arm bushing replacement.

The rattling could be anything from brake pads, sway bar end links, loose/worn wheels bearings, loose wheel lugs, bad tension rod bushings, and a few other items. You need to get under the car, and start looking things over, and shaking/wiggling things, to see it you can track it down to a certain area.
You could even have something on the body or under the hood that is loose.

If you don't feel the rattle through the steering wheel, I'd probably start with the brake pads... I run race pads, and have pulled all of my clips and such... they rattle like crazy...

i cracked a brake pad on my rx7 and it made a rattling noise while i would drive it down the road. i went about shaking and wiggling things to try to find out what it was but nothing i could do to it would make it sound the same as it did on the road. one day i decided to inspect the wheel bearing and when i lifted the caliper off, chunks of brake pad fell out of it.

I did the same thing. I read voraciously here and on several other forums, before I even made the 1st post for myself. Sounds like you're off to a good start, and well on your way to making many friends.

alright, another Reno guy.

For the idler arm you might want to look at the "race" replacement that mazdatrix sells. I have it in my car and it completely gets rid of the rubber bushing. The steering feels very tight with the right amount of weight to it.
