New exhaust= not good

ok well today i finally decide to do my first ever mod by my self. earlier in the week i bought my friends old exhaust set up (RB header, 2.5" strait pipe, magnaflow muffler)

i get the old exhaust off and install the RB header and decide to start the car up to see just how loud a rotary is with just a header hahaha (evil laugh)

hear is the video.

the first experience is always the best. i loved it so much that i drove around for about a week with an open header.....it was deafening and i loved it. that was many years ago though, lol. nothing i would do now.

I asked the mufflershop to install my RB headers, cat-replace-pipe, to my magnaflow muffler and when he fired it up at the shop he said it was louder than his 9 sec drag Falcon with a big block ford motor. God these cars are fun

Sounds like it's only running on one rotor. Without any backpressure, it's going to be really cold natured.

I tried running mine on the stock header without the exhaust after removing my cats and it ran fine, just a little on the noisy side (although not as bad as you might expect and as some people claim, kind of like yours, only it kept going and idled smoothly).

I suspect something else happened while you were doing the work on the header. You might want to check over your ignition components, choke cable and adjustment, fuel flow, etc.

PS, I love the skinny tires!

how big is the tip on the magnaflow? Im going to use the HKS Hi-power turbo muffler....3" inlet 4.75" tip. Im going to build my extra motor in the future for a turbo set up and dont feel like buying an n/a hks muffler for 250 then have to buy the turbo version for 270.

....HKS makes exhaust for fd's....so im sure it will withstand the heat. Also it is HKS....so its going to be good quality.

to verify if it's a one rotor motor, after trying to start it a few times put your finger on the exhaust port sleeve, see if it's warm.

pumping the gas pedal to the floor five times before starting should do it.

bad leading spark coupled with a good trailing spark could equal burning hot header rather quickly... be careful...

Ok well still check it. If the butterfly closes it will starve one of the rotors. It only takes a second to check.
