New cooling system - GSL-SE

Well I decided to put some money in the '85 GSL-SE that I had bought last summer. The car is primarily used for AutoX on weekend, so I hadn't done much to it because it runs fine. But with the hot summer weather coming to California I decided to do some replacement of of cooling system. This will work on any tall radiator 83-85 cars.

Exsting:
-2 core tall radiator, looked pretty tired.
-water pump would drip out the weep hole after sitting.
-Hayden 16" electric fan, it did ok, but I wanted more.

I thought about installing a short radiator and moving to a 81-82 oil cooler, but it would really jack up the factory look and fit. Plus the SE oil cooler looked fresh.

New:
$170.00 2 core tall Modine radiator
$34.99 Autozone Aluminum water pump (really)
$6.50 Factory thermostat/gasket
$179.99 Black Magic electric fan 2800cfm, YEAH!

The key to mounting the Black Magic fan is to get 2" aluminum angle 16" per side, and rip 1" on the side that will mount to the factory shroud mounts on the radiator. On the side the fan will mount to I measured 4" from each end and cut back to end angling to the bend at each end. To give it a more finished look. To mount the fan to the angle I used the 3/8" all-thread provided in the fan kit.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you center the fan as close to the drivers side of the radiator as posible, cause otherwise you will interfer with the lower radiator hose.

Total fabrication/mounting bracket, using a hacksaw and drill is about 2 hours, total.

I got everything bolted up, wire up and put up, and let me tell you this fan and pull some serious air.

Picture to be posted tonight.
