new 1985gs option or what?

I just picked up a nice 85 gs for a very good price, my question is was a sunroof optional? I thought all gs models had a sunroof and the s models didnt have one. This gs doesnt have one but has the tie down straps in the cargo area!!. Any input is welcome!!!!!.

sun roof mayhave been an option delete pack car.but you still get straps.I have a 85 gsl-se with no sunroof, air, power windows, rear wiper and no leather! ALL factory delete(factory racer) but I still got the straps.

Just so you know all cars have them. NO sunroof,o.k. hold your luggage down so it stays in back when you drill the brakes to miss killer bunnies.

I thought the straps were to tie down the spare wheel.

nah... there should be one bolt to hold down the spare. the straps are for luggage... safety reasons. ever been beaned in the back of the head with a speeding piece of samsonite? all 3 sevens that i've owned had those straps.

No GS's had sunroofs. Also, all FBs had the straps. FC's have them too. They're for luggage. I always stick mine under the carpet

straps were for the sunroof i thought. i used to put the solid roof in the bag and the straps held it down perfect. dont know why they would have luggage straps. sounds pointless

Its probably for the sunroof in the FB's. But the sunroof on the FC's doesn't come off and they have straps too.

I think sunroofs are overrated. We have two cars with them and they are both always closed except when it is hot and we pop them open momentarily to let the heat out.

Be happy you don't have one it add's 30 lbs up top just where you don't want it . plus it takes some stiffness out as well!

Ah, the joys of High School... Glad I missed that side of the high school experience - yup I was the geek. As an old married with child fuddy duddy, such does not interest me. However, better performance and cornering do. For such, high weight = bad so sunroof = bad. I think the rest of your post would land me in divorce court and a good wife is really hard to find so I will leave it at that ;-) But at some point in life, we realize sharing with our friends has some real limits (if you get my drift) ;-) (haha).

mmm... since i am a high schooler and i do crazy things like putting 3 girls in the hatch of my 7, nearly breaking my hatch glass... i like the issue of the sunroof cuz you can flick other cars off easier (rolling down the window quickly isn't an easy task!)

My GS came with a metal sunroof, even the rubber piece on the rear view mirror,,no P.S. and no power windows though,,i love my sunroof
thats one reason i bought the car,,then when i found the glass roof it
made it that much better,,it's cool, because it can be removed,,i drive it
all the time with it removed,,
