The 2nd gen cats won't fit. I tried to give my brother my FB cats for his FC and it wouldn't work. The studs are in different places.

I have an entire 1st gen exhaust system laying around in my garage... I just took it off and it's in rather good shape... I have all 3 (pre)cats and they look like they are in good shape... Would u be interested in them?

Darn it,,Felix,,is the flange's the same die.on 1st and 2ed gens.at the exhuast manifold, and how about the pitch angle,,because ,well they
look the same,, Do you know if they ALL clog,or just the main,,living
in california i NEED to keep it smog legal as i can,,because i don't want
to get caught up after i were to install some performance pieces,,
I'd love to strip ALL the smog crap,,but,it's a pain to change over the
exhuast systems each year to reg. the car,,thats why i bought the car
from a dealer.it's on them to sell a PASSED car,,check it out,,,
on the dash warning lights,my exhaust overheating light comes on..
i haven't looked under the car to see if anything is glowing (cat) but
isn't that telling me that the cat. is cloged,,when it overheats ???
I'm asking because,,,,I don't ******* know,,I hate that warning light...
thanks man,.,.,.mark

All rotaries are hard on cats, the heat (1600 -2000 f) melts the guts into one big solid restrictive brick that overheats the exhaust. Quick fix is to take the cat off and ram a bar up the pipe till it comes out the outletand reinstall it. it looks good to the cops and buys you some time

The small one(s) you can shove a pipe down to clean them out. I know on my '83 GSl the main cat(the big one) had metal chambers that you can't hollow out with a pipe.

So....I took all of them off and got a straight pipe.
