"NEW"12A 4 Bridge Locked UP
I traded my '85 12A with low miles for a "NEW 12A with 4 Bridge ports,It had new RB Carbon seals,Lapped Housings&Supposibly everything was new&Done by a Experienced mechanic".The guy I got the motor from said the motor was "Too MUCH For the Street" & wanted my Motor to cruise his car so We swapped motors&When I tried to start the Bridge ported motor it Wouldnt start for nothing,It would start if I poured oil down the carb"ATF didnt work too well,But oil did the trick?"
When I finally got it to run It would Idle at 2500 to 3000 anything lower it would die.So I drive it a Few Blocks & the Motor dies & The rear tires LOCKED UP a little so I pull over & the motor wont turn over either way,I tried to break it free but it spins very little with a breaker bar & then locks up,The rear rotor is stuck,I need help with this I feel like the motor is JUNK

Will it turn either way in neutral and some spray lube in there?
Pull the header off and shine a light in there look for any metal shavings or scoring. Stick your finger in the exhaust port and feel around for scratching, scoring, and broken pieces parts. Pull the leading plugs and look in there too.
Pull the intake manifold off and look at those ports, push on the side, apex and corner seals if they can turn by the ports.
Please don't ask how I know about looking for rotary damage!

It has a New clutch RB street strip,It feels like the rear rotor is hitting something,It took me 3 days to get the car running As it is in a 1980 Toyota corolla,Today was my 1st time driving it &I was not even going fast,Not even High RPMs& it just Shut off(it sounded like It lost all compression),I will definately have some words with the guy,I think he had to know the motor was not built right ,It only started with oil in carb,& didnt feel strong?

OUCH!!!
The quarterback is TOAST!
Definately have words with him and bring up words like 'misrepresentation' and 'did not inform buyer of broken parts', 'traded parts under goodwill gentleman's agreement that they are fully functioning', and 'police' if needed.

Yeah, I would incourage you to go "talk" to this builder. How can one build a engine with lapping and other goodies and not know how to build a bridgeport?
I built my own and ported on my own, its not that hard, its either a major dumbass who built it with porting on the wrong places or the engine ingested something and broke a carbon seal already. I don't know though.

Wow, some times it pays to keep a cool head, this worked out really well. Know you know what is truely in the motor and you know who built it. All for the cost of a stock 12a.
