Unhappy Needs a rebuild, Advice on parts?

i have an 85 GSL which is sort of a franken7 i have a 4 port 13b with a hitachi 4bbl carb an LSD and a 5 speed. i know from the records i found with the car it was once a 12a auto. anyhow, she is hard to start, and i get a popping sound when i open the secondaries and take her past 5k, also she is getting alot hotter then she used to, it used to be i could run her four hours (i drove her from la to sacramento) and the heater would only produce the slightest bit of warmth, now after driving her around for 30 minutes and it is toasty. also now at idle there is a lope as if shes missing, perhaps i could record it with my laptop, let me know if anyone thinks its worth hearing.

she doesn't feel any slower, but i hate the stuttering pop once i get her to above 5k so i don't really open her up and more and it leaves me feeling like my poor little rx7 is sedated..

so, i have an opportunity to use my girlfriends dad's tools and he has just about everything i need to rebuild her. however i've never worked on a rotary engine and i'm not in the know with the tricks, tips or common knowledge of an old time rotor head.

I'd like to buy everything i need in a kit form if possible but if not i need a complete listing of things i should buy as well as any unusual tools i'd need. also, if there is anything that isn't obvious i'd need and would make things go alot quicker/easier let me know!

i thank you all in advanced for helping me

Isaac.

it appears that the issue is with the front rotor i just went outside and turned her on and the front rotor housing is hotter than the rear, also the other night the header was glowing red on the front side

If you must do a rebuild, buy the rebuild DVD, I believe either www.atkinsrotary.com or www.mazdatrix.com have it available. They should also both have a rebuild kit that should have everything you need.

You got a 12a engine...do your self the favor and just buy a complete rotary rebuild with all the seals you need, and all the gaskets... Click me for rebuild kit...

Hold on a second here....

You've got a popping sound at higher rpms, and you've got a glowing header. Based on those two things, I'd be willing to say that your day just got a whole lot better. Your motor is fine.

Get a timing light and time your engine. While doing that, you may find that the leading ignition is either not firing at all, or is retarded.

Let me know what you find....

Could be that the timing changed somehow, or you lost an ignitor/coil/something of that nature. Either way, the timing and a check for spark would definitely be the place to start. Best of luck man.
