Unhappy needing help again !

hey guys i figured since every one has not let me down yet i would see if you can help me again. my 84 gsl-se is acting weird, when driving over 20 mph the car shakes so bad it is hard even to be sitting in it. i have checked :
1: tire balancing
2: wheel bearings
3: tir-rods ends
4: lower balljoints
5: the tires for and bumps or blisters.

all have ben fine i cant seem to find where the vibration is comming from. it seems to sound like it is comming from the rear of the car but i dont see any thing.
if you guys got any ides i would greatly appriciate it.

thanks again

First thing I'd check would be the u-joints although they usually just slowly get worse over time. Not only cehck for looseness and play, but also check and see if they move COMPLETELY freely in all directions. You will have to pull the driveshaft to do this. Sometimes the grease in the needle bearings dries out, and the driveshaft will not move freely around the u-joint.

I haven't had the problem personally, but I've also read that the rear tranny mount being worn out or broken will do the same thing.

Is the vibration in the seat of your pants, or in the steering wheel? If it's in the steering wheel, it's the front end, otherwise it's in the rear end. Wherever you determine it is, try moving the tires around...rear to front and front to rear. If the vibration moves, you have a tire/wheel problem...could be out of balance, or could be a bent rim, or could be a tire with a belt problem. Also check the preload on the wheel bearings...if they aren't tight enough that could cause a vibration.

Good luck!

Good one Rich, I should have thought to mention those things.
