Need a tranny?

I KNOW, I KNOW, but no one reads the for sale section, and I hope to help out a good bud rotorhead. I've got a supposedly good 5 speed tranny (12a), very clean with 60k on it. I bought it from a forum member 6 months ago, never got around to installing it, now that car is sold, don't need it.
I paid $75 plus shipping, thats all I want. Anyone need it?

No sweat. I'll probably just hold onto it until someone on the forum here needs it. Don't want to mess with ebay, I want it to help someone here.

What year?

What's the year on it. I just bought an '85 GSL automatic. We are going to put a 5 speed in it. If the year is compatible with my RX, I will buy it from you right now.

Sixty bux and I come get it sound good? You don't need a set of 15" 4x4 bfgood tires, do you? (i bought them off a friend who didn't like the road noise, to go on the Jeep I was working on- but I sold the Jeep last Saturday)
My trans has 174k miles on it (as does the car and engine), and 2nd gear is getting notchy even with the redline oil. That would be good insurance if it goes out, and when I replce the clutch (on 2nd clutch with 85k miles on it) I could swap the trans. I can come get it this weekend if it is still for sale. Seymore is just an hour from here, and I am a little familiar with it (I dated a crazy redhead who lived there a few years ago- damn internet classifieds).

For what it's worth, go to a Gm dealer and get that GM syncromesh. Great stuff, might just cure that clunky tranny. Sure smoothed mine out.

ive heard about that stuff.. does it really work that good? i JUST put mobil 1 synthetic fluid in my tranny a week ago, so i dont want to waste all that just for something that doesnt work guess it would be better than buy/installing a whole nother tranny.

how does that stuff run? i hear its on the expensive side

It ran about $9 a quart, 'bout like synthetic. I don't know if I'd drain yours at this point, but it might be worth a try. Mine was really notchy, made it really smooth.

Still got the tranny. Lots of supposedly interested folks, no one serious. I'm gonna stick the tranny in my storage building and maybe try again some other time.

"What we have here, is a failure to communicate".

Brealistic, I've PMed you a couple of times no response. With the way this site is acting lately, who knows if you/I are getting them.

Trying again....

I got it, finally! Sorry for the confusion, you can look at the tranny this weekend at Kevin's.

Thanks for the trans Mike. I didn't realise the back hatch area in a 1st gen was big enough to carry so much. I like your GSL-SE wide body. Unusual color- like a caramel biege. Makes the car look vintage. nice.
peace, Bryan.

yeah, they are worthless until you actually need one- then you can't find any.
